Extract from HIA press release: “Port Macquarie designer takes out top HIA awards. Michelle Burton of Designing Divas took out the titles of HIA Northern NSW Kitchen Design of the Year and HIA Northern NSW Bathroom Design of the Year at the 2015 HIA Northern NSW Housing Awards …The judges said, ‘Michelle, a previous winner in these categories from 2013, continues to design modern and breathtaking kitchens and bathrooms.’ Kitchen and Bathroom Design categories are judged first and foremost on the design, innovation and flair demonstrated by the designer. Category entries are also judged on the quality of technical elements, compliance and presentation of drawings, plans and specifications. Each year the bar is raised higher making the judging process all the more difficult. The Northern region continues to set a high standard within NSW.” read the full press release

DESIGN BRIEF

The overall space reflects a tranquil natural colour palette of warm greys and whites with generous timber-look porcelain tiles in the double shower and raised bath platform. The white river bed pebbles, accentuated with the crisp stainless steel bathroom fittings is a further example of the timeless beauty of natural products working with the stunning architectural lines of contemporary bathroom ware.

DESIGN DETAILS

The vanity wall features an impressive large format slab size tile (3000mm h x 1000mm w x 3mm thick) surrounding all faces of the blade wall. The porcelain metallic tile, without grout joints, is an impressive yet unobtrusive feature. The thin nature of the tile means for the tiler it is easier to install compared to a conventional stone slab. And so much easier to keep sparklingly clean.

In order to make full use of the river views, from a bather’s viewpoint, a raised platform was designed with custom made stainless steel troughs to take any possible overflow of water from the deep resin bathtub.
